How Hair Grows

How Hair Grows

How Hair Grows

How Hair GrowsThink back to your childhood. Now focus on your preadolescent hair, It was probably more vibrant, shinier, fuller, and either lighter or brighter in color than your natural hair is now. There are a few reasons for this.
During childhood, we have more hair in the growth stage than at any other time, giving us plenty of volume. At this time in your life, the sebaceous glands are working at the peak of their efficiency, which gives strands a high gloss. Hair pigment hasn’t started to darken, so your hair color is vibrant, and you probably aren’t yet messing around with hair-changing chemical processes, or using heat appliances- all of which can rough up strands’ cuticles or strip them away entirely, leaving hair dull and brittle.

Teens and 20s
How Hair Grows

During your young adult years, hair slowly begins changing from its childhood state. Strands may become coarser, growth may slow.
Just a bit, color grows progressively darker, and the sebaceous activity for most of us goes on overdrive, pumping out oil at a furious rate. The teens and early 20s are a time for experimentation- and rightly so: how else are you going to find out what works for you and what doesn’t? Most of you have strong. Slightly oily and can afford to rough it up a bit with the latest color or texture trends. In beauty, as in life, there are no absolutes, and if your happen to be born with fragile hair or sensitive hair, take it easy.

Your 30s, 40s, and 50s

By the time you’ve reached your 30s, your hair has reached a plateau- the sebum is being produced at a more manageable pace and you have settled into your looks and accepted your hair type. Your strands have reached their darkest shade and the biggest surprise awaiting you is probably the appearance of grey.
Blondes, redheads, and light brunettes are more likely to go grey, while deep brunettes have a better chance of going white.
How Hair GrowsOf course, when you go grey depends on your genetic makeup – if you are father and mother didn’t see grey until they were 95, then you probably can expect the same, if they both went grey in their 20, you’ll probably be grey by the time you hit 35. The 30s and 40s, however, are a kind of “human average age” for this rite of passage. And while we’re on the subject of grey, keep in mind that grey hair do not mean your strands are no longer healthy. It simply means your cortex no longer containsmelanin. Another piece of information: grey hair often has a wirier texture than pigmented hair, so don’t be alarmed if these uncolored strands spring away from your head at strange angles.

YOUR HAIR AND THE CHANGE
You probably know menopause is that time when your ovaries stop producing oestrogen. Menopause can occur at any time during your adult years, but most commonly happens during your late 40s to mid-50s. Yet regardless of when it happens, menopause signals the end of your reproductive years, meaning no more to this, including not having to worry about birth control and never suffering from menstrual cramps again. Menopause is not, however, so fabulous for your hair. That’s because oestrogen protects you against hair loss; without oestrogen, your locks may grow noticeably thinner. For those of you, who aren’t near menopause, ask you mothers, aunts, grandmothers, or post-menopausal friends about how their mane altered after “the change”; most will admit their hair has not only frown a little (or a lot) thinner, but also finer in texture.
More bad news. For those of you genetically predisposed toward female-pattern hair loss, menopause is when you’ll learn whether or not you’re going to be affected-this also has to do with the sudden lack of hair-helping oestrogen. Some women find hormone replacement therapy protects them near- totally or partially from all kinds of post-menopausal hair loss. However, hormone replacement therapy has been linked with breast, endometrial, and liver cancers; discuss the risks with your doctor.

Your 60s and beyond

How Hair GrowsBy now you may be sporting quite a head of grey-or even white- hair, Sebum production has slowed considerably and your hair may grow drier and less in need of shampooing (and more in need of conditioning). Most humans experience thinning hair with age. By thinning, I don’t mean obvious balding- although if you are prone to that, now’s the time it will start happening. I simply mean that you will have less hair than you did in your youth. That’s because as we age, our hair spends less time in anagen, or growth, stage, and more time in the catagen (transition) and the telogen (resting) stages. At this point, there should be no great hair surprises for you. Instead, with each decade expect a gradual decrease in sebum production and a gradual increase in graying and thinning.

2010 Men Hairstyle Trends

Well, everyone are wondering what will be mens hairstyle trends in 2010? In our own opinion, here are just a few of men hairstyle trends in 2010.

Short Man’s Hairstyles
High and Tight, Fade, Spike, Clipper Cut and Crew Cut, whatever name you want to call it. We reckoned that by far the most popular man’s hairstyle in 2010 is the High and Tight or Fade.

Characterized by a closely cropped clipper cut around the sides and back of the head with just enough hair on top of the head to comb, this man’s hairstyle with its many variations accounts for about 50% of all popular styles today. With just a little bit of gel to spike up the top, mess it up a little or finger into place, this man’s hairstyle will only take you seconds to achieve.

While you may have to get it cut more often, about every three weeks or so, the ease of styling this man hair cut is what makes it a favorite among busy men today.

Medium length, textured Men’s Hairstyle
2010 hairstyle trends for men have a lot of texture and the same is true for medium-length styles (about 3 to 4 inches). These styles resemble the classic man haircut of the past, but step it up a notch by using extreme texture and color to bring it all together.

Most styles use a great deal of razoring and texturizing with notching scissors. To style this man’s hairstyle pomade usually works best. Work product through dry hair and finger into place.

Long Men’s Hairstyles
While most men do not wear their hair down their back anymore, the long man’s hair style has made a somewhat shorter comeback. Perhaps the most recognizable example that we can related to this men’s hair style is Ashton Kutcher. Long, textured and disheveled, this man hair cut is gaining widespread popularity. Again, this man’s hair cut requires a lot of texture and works best with pomade.

As you can see, the man’s hair style in 2010 is far from boring. Gone are the days of cookie-cutter barber shop man haircut. :)

Hair style - 1

Hair Styles

easy to look after men's hairstyle

Seth and Jaymey explain the look that caught the judges eye and clinched them a place in the Grand Final; “We wanted our look to have a slightly 70’s influence, something we’d seen a lot of in the Dolce&Gabbana catwalk collection. It’s tailored, neat around the edges and inherently masculine. Ultimately the hair is easy to look after and we’ve added a sculpted feel by leaving length and bulk through the top section.”

The master’s touch began with a tight clip around the sides and back. The advancement of hair length was deliberate with poufy long strides of hair going across the head from one end over to the other and resting upon the side. Piecy fringes are placed into positions along the rest of the model's forehead.

masculine look

Connie explains the look that caught the judges eye and clinched her a place in the Grand Final; “I thoroughly researched the forthcoming trends and Philip Lim’s Autumn/Winter 2009 collection really stood out as an inspiration. I kept my models hair is smooth and tailored. It’s a classic, sophisticated and masculine look that would appeal to a lot of my male clients.”

Couper & Co could well be remembered for the award winning haircut with simplistic lines that flow smoothly in sync around the nape in the back and over the ears. This true gentleman’s haircut is shaded darker in the front that is shown upon his forehead and along the bottom around the ears that became a real attention getter.

gentlemen's hairstyle

Emma-Louise and Nicola explain the look that caught the judges eye and clinched them a place in the Grand Final; “We loved the Dolce&Gabbana catwalk collection and Mark Ronson’s timeless style. Using these inspirations as our starting point we created a striking look that combined classic elements with sharp, modern tailoring.”

Faith Hair brings the grandiose of mystery to the scene with a neatly knitted shingled nape that follows through along the sides and graduates into longer layers that are worn in a combed down pattern. The longer hair is styled down to screen over part of the gentlemen’s face lending an enigma to the picture and winks from the judges.

young men's hairstyle

Leanne and Simone explain the look that caught the judges eye and clinched them a place in the Grand Final; “We loved the catwalk collections by Tom Ford and Dior Homme. For the haircut we went for a classic style with a twist – really clean lines and a subtle colour. The model’s hair was originally black and we took him lighter.”

Clean and polished lines of hair are clipped up around the ears and across the back as West Row Hairdressing continues with the beginning of a choppy crew in the crown that graduates into the hefty creation of a waterfall that dips over upon the young man’s eyebrows. An ideal medium brown tone was brought up from a darker shade of brown pinpointing the punch in the hairstyle.
