Lock Your Hard Drive Without Password

go to folder options in any opened window,go to the second tab i.e VIEW tab...

go to last option i.e use simple file sharing.......tick it up....apply and close it....

Come to the My Computer window,now right click on any hard drive and further go to the security option and then allow or deny the permission of using that Hard Drive........

Further if u want complete denial then just remove the tick of the simple file sharing option.

Perform Disk Error Checking in Windows XP

· Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check.

Lock DISK DRIVES without any software - Cool Computer Tricks

We don’t usually prefer to lock our drives, but sometimes it becomes nesscary. So here is trick to lock drives without any software, For this you have to do some changes in registry editor.
Please don’t try this tweak with your root drive (usually C:\ is the root drive) since root drives are not intended to be locked because they are mandatory for the system and application programs.

1). Click on Start and Run and then type Regedit to open Registry editor window.

2). In registry editor window Browse

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

3). Create a new DWORD value name it NoViewOnDrive and set its value as 2^(Alpha Number of Drive Letter-1) where Alpha number are simple counting of alphabets from A to Z as 1 – 26

For example: to lock C:\, Alpha number of C is 3 so 2^ (3-1) = 4 (decimal value)

A: 1

C: 4

D: 8

E: 16

F: 32

G: 64

H: 128

4). To lock more drives, calculate the value of each drive and then set sum of those numbers as value

5). To unlock your drive just delete the key from the registry.


6). Press F5 to refresh.
Its done.

Disable display of Drives in My Computer

You can disable display of local and networked drives when you click My Computer. Try this trick on your friend's computer and see their reactions when they saw their is no drives. To disable dispaly of drives you have to make some changes in windows registry just follow these steps:

1) Go to RUN.

2) Type regedit and press Enter.

3)Then in Registry Editor window go to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.

4) Now in the right pane right click and create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives.

5) Now modify it's value and set it to 1.

6) Press F5 to Referesh.

Its done. When you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown.

To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item.

Access your folders as drives - Cool Computer Tricks

You can create Virtual Drives in your Computer. Now you can access your Favorite Folders as a drive in My Computer.
Just Do The Follwing :
 

1) Start >> Run
2) Type cmd and hit Enter.
This will open Command Prompt.
3) Type subst Z: E:\picture and hit Enter key.
Here Z: is your desired New Drive Letter (Do not use existing Drive letters) and E:\picture is path of your favorite folder.
4) Now, type exit.
Its done.
This will create a new drive ! When you open this , it will open your folder !!!

Hide Hard drive's partition by using command Prompt - without any software

Do you have some confidential data and dont wanna share that data with your friends and other persons. so now you can hide any of partition of your hard drive, just store all your confidential and private data in that hard disk partition and hide that partition. Here is a very cool and simple trick , for this you need not to install any software. this can be done just by using command prompt.

Follow given steps to hide partitions without using any software.


1). Go to Start and type Run.

2). Type Diskpart in run and press Enter.
window will askes for our permission to continur. click on continue.
3). In the console type List volume to see all the drives available on your PC/Computer ad their volume.

4). Now select the drive which you want to hide.
Suppose you want ot delete D drive. '
It is volume 1 for drive D. you can found volume from command prompt itself as it list volume with each disk partition as shown in figure.


5). Now to hide D drive type Select volume 1 .



6). Type remove letter d , this will hide your drive.
Its done.

Now d drive is hidden.

Now to get your drive back type Select volume 1 and then type assign letter d.
